Everything it does

A private place to practise your voice, your way. Here's everything that's in it, in plain words. Measures marked experimental are rough hints, and everything is compared only with your own voice.

Get started, freeHow it works

Practise

Short, gentle sessions, in your own accent.

  • Reading passages. Longer texts to read aloud, medium or long, added by our moderators. Each reading is compared with your earlier readings of the same text, and you can add one to a snapshot if you like. Coaches can use them in their exercises and tasks too.
  • Always know what's next. A bar at the bottom of the screen shows how far you've got and one clear next step, in sessions, exercises, programmes, tasks and snapshots.
  • Your 5 minutes. Featured See it A daily routine, hands-free: it speaks each step and listens for you. A warm-up, a glide, one practice line that follows your goals, the same check sentence every day (so change is easy to see), and one everyday line. Practice reminders open it. No streaks: just the days you practised.
  • Your starting voice. A two-minute recording when you begin (a few held vowels, a gentle glide and a short passage), so you can always compare with where you started. Check-ins repeat it every few weeks, if you like.
  • Pick a focus. Pitch, resonance, intonation, vocal weight, speech patterns, or a mix. Your goals are highlighted, and what's due is marked.
  • Live pitch line. Featured See it See your pitch as you speak, in Hz or semitones, with an optional comfortable target range.
  • Prompts in your accent. Featured See it Held vowels, glides, sentences said three ways (plain, as a question, excited), a reading passage, free speech, and your own phrases.
  • Short exercises. Clear steps, what you might notice, and when to stop. After each session, a couple of suggestions from your own recordings and how they felt.
  • How it felt comes first. Rate comfort, effort, strain and how happy you are with each recording. If something feels strained, the app suggests stopping for the day, and reminds you to rest.
  • Gentle on your voice. An optional reminder to rest, and one to sip some water. After a session that felt strained, the app suggests stopping for today, and choosing to rest counts.
  • Favourites. Keep up to 20 recordings you liked, listen back, and imitate one.
An exercise in progress: its steps, the prompt to read and the record button.

See your voice

Measurements, compared only with your own voice. Never a gender score.

  • Results after every recording. Your median pitch and range, how your pitch moved at the end, and your pitch line next to your first try or your starting voice.
  • A spectrogram of every recording. The whole take, with your pitch line, your resonances and where each sentence starts drawn over it.
  • Live resonance. Experimental Featured See it Hold a vowel and watch a dot move on a vowel chart, over where your own vowels sat: your starting voice, your best recent held vowels, or a favourite. Nothing is recorded.
  • Resonance on held vowels. Experimental Your “ahh”, “eee” and “ooo” on a vowel chart, and R1, R2 and overall size and brightness compared with your start.
  • Resonance in everyday speech. Experimental How far apart your resonances were across everything you read, compared with an earlier reading of the same text.
  • Sentence by sentence. Each sentence's pitch, range and ending, split at your pauses.
  • Vocal weight hints. Experimental Rough acoustic hints next to your own rating of how light or full it felt.
  • A live spectrogram. In resonance practice, with a marker for your starting “eee” brightness.
Live resonance: a dot on a vowel chart showing the resonances right now, over shaded areas for earlier vowels.

Hear yourself

Hearing small differences makes practice easier.

  • Ear training. Featured See it Which note is higher? Which vowel is brighter? With tones that get closer as you improve, then with your own recordings.
  • Blind listening. Two of your own readings of the same text, dates hidden. Note what you hear, guess which is more recent, then see what changed.
  • Listen and compare. Any two of your recordings side by side, like then and now.
  • Transcripts, if you want them. What you said, typed out by AI on our own server, which you can correct. Off unless you turn it on.
Ear training: a list of listening games such as Higher or lower and Brighter or darker.

Everyday speech

Carrying your practice voice into real conversation.

  • Short scenes. Featured See it Ordering a coffee, booking by phone, meeting someone new, giving directions, returning something, catching up with a friend. Someone says a line, and you answer out loud, with a hint if you're stuck.
  • Your everyday gap. Your pitch and resonance while answering, next to your latest reading of the passage, over time. Closer to zero means more of your practice voice came with you.
  • Prompt voices you choose. Lines are spoken by a lower, a middle or a higher voice, made on our own server with an open voice model. A mix by default; pick one, or leave one out.
Everyday speech: scenes such as ordering a coffee, a phone call and meeting someone new.

Your progress

What's moving, what could use a little time, and how it's felt.

  • Your target voice. Featured See it Say a short phrase, then move three sliders (pitch, resonance, and weight from fuller to lighter) and hear your own voice change. Save it as your target, and practice shows where you started, where you are now and your target, aiming at the biggest gap. You can also hear any of your recordings at your target. Changed on our own server; keep the clip, or just the numbers.
  • Check my progress. Featured See it Read one passage and see what's close to your target voice and what's furthest, for pitch, resonance and weight. Your suggestions for the week follow it.
  • A gentle weekly goal. Featured See it A dot for each day you practise and a weekly goal you choose (2 days to start). Missing it never resets anything, and a week off now and then is fine. A few suggestions each week for what seems to be lacking most, a gentler one when practice has felt hard, and quiet milestones along the way. No leaderboards, no streak pressure.
  • Badges. Featured See it Little rewards for turning up, being kind to your voice and trying things, from a first session to a year of practice. They're private, never about how your voice sounds, there's nothing to keep up in a row, and they're never ranked. Share one with a caption if you like: only the badge, never your voice.
  • Progress at a glance. One screen: how far along the way to your target you are, what's changing, the last two weeks, your best clip, and one next step. All the detail is a tap away.
  • A score for each session. With a target voice: how close the session came to your own target, combined with how easy it felt. It's about your target, never a gender, and strain always brings it down.
  • Your best clips. The recordings closest to your target for pitch, resonance and weight, next to your target voice. They keep their audio automatically until a better one comes along. And any recording can be heard at your target.
  • The overview. Each area at a glance: moving your way, about the same, or could use some time, with how practice has felt.
  • Notes after every session. How it went, from your own recordings, and what to try next time. Optionally written by AI on our own server.
  • A weekly summary. Your week, with a few goals to pick from, and a gentle question about how it's going.
  • Charts over time. Pitch on the same sentence, resonance, vocal weight and speech patterns, over weeks or months.
  • History and your notes. Every session, with its recordings and numbers, and your own private notes, which you can add any time.
Your progress now: pitch, resonance and weight against the target voice, closest first, with bars.

On your phone and computer

Wherever you practise.

  • Install it as an app. On your phone's home screen or your computer, full screen, with its own icon.
  • Reminders and notifications. Practice and check-in reminders, and news from your coach or the moderators, only the kinds you choose. Every place has its own inbox.
  • A streaming overlay. Your live pitch (and a resonance dot, if you like) on stream, through a private link you add to OBS as a browser source. Only the numbers leave your tab; nothing is recorded.
  • Help with AI and real people. VocaBoba AI answers questions about the app first. Choose Talk to a person whenever you need a moderator.
  • Sign in with Google or a passkey. No password needed. Create an account with a passkey alone (no email), or add one to any account in Settings, then sign in with Face ID, your fingerprint or your device's PIN.
  • Light or dark. Or the same as your device: choose at the bottom of any page here, or in Settings, and every page on that device follows.
